Resumen
This paper reports the research results of an investigation whose main goal was to identify the characteristics of the sensemaking and sensegiving (S&S) processes in managers of organizations located in environments not commonly considered by the literature that has shaped the S&S discourse, specifically in a prominent region (Antioquia) of a global South country (Colombia). According to our research problem nature and in line with the theoretical tradition that has shaped this discourse, we used a qualitative methodology linked to the interpretivist paradigm. The results show that in the organizations investigated the S&S process is configured 1) in an environment in which ownership and control are not necessarily separated and in which human relationships are highly valued, 2) in the context of a specific identity and culture with very characteristic features, and 3) in a different environment from that usually considered by the theory produced in the global North.
