Y tú ¿quién eres? Representaciones del otro en cuatro libros álbum bilingües

Abstract

La pregunta de este trabajo se centra en la representación de la alteridad en cuatro libros álbum bilingües: Jintulu wayuu. Guajirita (Peláez Wouliyuu, 2014), terrible terrible (Rubio, 2005), Mirror (Baker J. , 2010)y El jardín de Babaï (Sadat, 2012). Se parte de la idea de que, para representar al otro, es necesario tener conciencia de la propia alteridad. El análisis del objeto de estudio da lugar a la revisión de los diversos elementos textuales de las obras, la noción de centro y periferia, la propuesta del niño como lector implícito y como una forma de alteridad del mundo adulto; y la relación entre el bilingüismo, el diálogo y las traducciones culturales en el ámbito de la literatura infantil. Se concluye que, aunque estos libros tienen una propuesta de equivalencia cultural, no es posible representar al otro en su dimensión absoluta.

Abstract: The main thesis of this work centers around the representation of the otherness in four bilingual picture books: Jintulu wayuu. Guajirita (Peláez Wouliyuu, 2014), terrible terrible (Rubio, 2005), Mirror(Baker J. , 2010)y El jardín de Babaï (Babaï's Garden) (Sadat, 2012). It starts from the idea that in order to represent another, it is necessary to acknowledge our own otherness. The analysis of the study requires a careful examination of the different narrative qualities of the books, the notions of center and periphery, the proposal of the child as an implicit reader and a representation of otherness of the adult world, as well as the relation between bilingualism, dialogues and cultural translations in children's literature. It concludes that although these books have an equivalent proposal regarding their cultural background, it is not possible to represent the concept of otherness in its whole dimension.
