Communicative language teaching: Developing speaking skill

Artículo para optar al grado de Licenciada en Educación. The aim of this article is to inform and reflect upon the use of the Communicative Language Teaching Approach to develop speaking skill in 8th grade students from a subsidized school in La Florida. This grade was chosen because they have a great knowledge in grammar and vocabulary, but they do not dare to communicate using the English language. The Communicative Language Teaching or CLT is a tool for developing the weak oral production in students as it gives emphasis in the communicative activities such as: role-plays, pair and group work. The intervention will take into account the objectives in the oral skill established in the study programs by the Ministry of education , but considering new roles for teachers and learners and giving emphasis on pair and group activities that can help to the students in the use of the foreign language.
