O consumo e a configuração do gênero na infância

This study aims to understand how is the setting of gender concepts in childhood from consumption and other socialization processes. All the work is divided into three areas: consumption, gender and childhood. The consumption was discussed in their spheres materials and media from the relationship with culture and the media as an element that focuses on people's lives in different ways. The gender was understood as a social and cultural construction reinforced from multiple instances (as the media, family and school) and symbolic references, that is established since and especially in childhood, on the assumption that humans are not born boys or girls, but they become socially and culturally. The childhood was characterized with the aid of developmental psychology with an interactionist vision, considering the socialization processes from the school and family. As methodology as used the cartography, which the assumption is the direction of attention the researcher.In this study, the cartography was seen as a driving mode of the study, in that the aid enables the steps to be taken throughout the study. The techniques that structure the data collection were participant observation and interviews. These techniques help to map the consumption habits of children and gender conceptions. As a result there is the role of consumption in the configuration of gender conceptions, mainly through the meanings instilled in toys and collective appropriation of these, following a logic linked to sexual stereotypes.
