The set of procedures and technical operations that are part of Document
management is relevant to the activities in the archival institutions at all levels since
this process results information retrieval, preservation of memory and also
contributes to decision making. This monograph aims to investigate how Documents
are organized set of documents relating to Participative Budgeting (PB) of Rio
Grande do Sul in the period 1999 to 2002, consisting of funds: Office of Community
Relations and Office of Budget and Finance, currently in the custody of a public
archival institution, located in Porto Alegre, Brazil. The instruments used for the
development of this study were unstructured or informal interviews and direct
observation in documentation of the OP, the two offices, between the years 1999 to
2002. After examining these documents identified the absence of policies on
document management in the documents the research object.
