Resumen
The assessment of the milestones of psychomotor development in the child allows for the estimation of opportune intervention strategies. Colombia lacks research that demonstrates the reliability of a simple instrument to issue an evaluative judgment related to the psychomotor development of children in the school stage. Objective: To determine the reliability of the TEPSI questionnaire in preschool children from 3 to 5 years old, in a school in the city of Bogotá, Colombia. Methods: Instrumental study in 50 boys and girls belonging to an official educational institution of Bogotá, D.C. The TEPSI questionnaire was applied, in a self-filled manner by structured form. To measure the reliability of the instrument, internal consistency (Cronbach alpha) and reproducibility (ICC) were assessed. Results: the average of the three Subareas (Motricity, Coordination and language) is in the normal range for both men and women. The reliability of the TEPSI questionnaire showed a Cronbach alpha of 0.77 and a test - re - test reproducibility with an almost perfect degree of agreement for all the subtest and the total score with ICC of 0.998. Conclusions: The TEPSI questionnaire showed adequate internal consistency and reproducibility. Based on these results, this instrument is recommended mainly in the context of primary care, for the study and screening of psychomotor development in boys and girls.
