Resumen
This analysis examines newspapers coverage of female presidential candidates running in Colombia for 2014. Based on the framing theory, the author examined 184 articles using the common stereotypes identified in previous researches. The results show that the press covered the candidates’ personal attributes and issue positions following the stereotypes. However, the findings also suggest that media coverage has become increasingly gender-balanced.
