Hipotensión ortostática, IMC, Hb1AC y creatinina sérica asociado a deterioro cognitivo en adultos mayores con diabetes mellitus tipo 2

Objetivo: Establecer si la hipotensión ortostática, IMC, Hb1Ac y creatinina sérica son factores asociados al deterioro cognitivo de adultos mayores con DM 2. Materiales y Método: Estudio observacional, transversal, de casos y controles. A los 100 pacientes adultos mayores con DM 2, sin depresión, se les dividió en dos grupos, con y sin deterioro cognitivo según el Mini-Mental test de Folstein. En ambos grupos se asociaron la presencia de hipotensión ortostática, IMC > 25 Kg/m2, Hb1Ac ≥ 7,5% y creatinina sérica ≥ 0.97 mg/dL, mediante Chi Cuadrado y análisis de regresión logística, con un nivel de significancia de 0.05. Resultados: Existe asociación significativa entre: La hipotensión ortostática y el deterioro cognitivo (P-X2=0.00000), IMC > 25 Kg/m2 y el deterioro cognitivo (P-X2=0.009), Hb1Ac ≥ 7,5 % y el deterioro cognitivo (P-X2=0.00000); se refuta la asociación entre creatinina sérica ≥ 0.97 mg/dL y el deterioro cognitivo (P-X2=0.81217). Conclusiones: Existe asociación entre la hipotensión ortostática, IMC > 25 Kg/m2, Hb1Ac ≥ 7,5 % y el deterioro cognitivo; se refuta la asociación entre creatinina sérica ≥ 0.97 mg/dL y el deterioro cognitivo.
