La Universidad Tecnológica Centroamericana (Unitec), cuenta con la carrera de Ingeniería Industrial y de Sistemas, desde el año de 1991, la cual ofrece amplias oportunidades en el mercado nacional e internacional. Sin embargo no cuentan con las herramientas óptimas para el desarrollo técnico práctico, según el plan de estudios aprobado en el 2007, por lo cual se realizó un análisis en busca de fortalecer la carrera de Ingeniería Industrial y de Sistemas. Para el desarrollo de la investigación se seleccionó un enfoque mixto, con predominancia cualitativa, con diseño no experimental con corte transversal descriptivo, a la población estudiantil del campus de Tegucigalpa los cuales habían cursado el 50% de la carrera, y a docentes que imparten clases en dicha carrera, con el fin de obtener suficiente información que sustentara de forma objetiva y confiable por lo que se aplicó dos técnicas para la recolección de información, las cuales dieron respuesta al fenómeno de estudio y llevo a la elaboración de un plan de acción orientado a implementar un laboratorio para la carrera de ingeniería industrial y de sistemas de Unitec que fortalezca la competitividad técnica de los estudiantes.The Central American Technological University (Unitec) provided the career of Industrial Engineering and of Systems, since 1991, which offers opportunities in the national and international market. Nonetheless the career of Industrial Engineering & Systems in Unitec, are not giving ideal tools for the practical & technical development, according to the curriculum approved in 2007, and This gave the starting point of the search analysis that provide the guide that make possible the detection of the tool that a student of Industrial Engineering & Systems need, to improve his technical competitions. For the development of the investigation was selected a mixed approach, with qualitative predominance, & not experimental design with a descriptive cross section, this search was focus in the student population of the campus of Tegucigalpa which had studied 50 % of the career, and teachers. In order to obtain enough information to support & get an objective and reliable investigation were applied two techniques for the compilation of information. This gave answer to the phenomenon of study and lead make an action plan for the establishment of a laboratory for the career of industrial engineering & systems of Unitec that strengthens the technical competitiveness of the students.
