El presente informe fue elaborado para poder analizar el comportamiento del Mercado Eléctrico Regional de América Central entre el 2019 y el 2020. El objetivo de este análisis fue evidenciar el impacto de la pandemia del COVID-19 sobre las transacciones en el MER. Los resultados fueron obtenidos a través del análisis estadístico de una base de datos proporcionada por el Ente Operador Regional. La primera parte del estudio se centró en las inyecciones y retiros de la Red de Transmisión Regional. La segunda parte se enfocó en el precio promedio exante de distintos nodo de enlace y regiones del mercado. Las transacciones del Mercado Eléctrico Regional cayeron en 8.2%. El precio promedio cayo por 43.9%. La mayoría de los países mantuvieron su posición como comprador o vendedor de energía pero en menor magnitud. El mercado de contratos decreció mientras que el mercado de oportunidades creció, ambos con respecto al 2019.This report was elaborated in order to analyze the behavior of the Regional Electric Market of Central America between 2019 and 2020. The objective of this analysis is to evidentiate the impact that the COVID-19 pandemic had over the transactions in the REM. The results were obtained through the statistical analysis of a database provided by the Regional Operating Entity. The first part of the study focuses on the injections and withdrawals from the Regional Transmission Network. The second part of the study deals with the average exante price in different link nodes and regions throughout the market. The transactions in the Regional Electric Market fell by 8.2%. The average price fell by 43.9%. Most of the countries in the market maintained their position as buyers or sellers but in smaller quantities. The contract market became smaller and the opportunity market became bigger, both with reference to 2019.
