La investigación actual se genera a partir de la necesidad que existe en las empresas de incorporar tecnología empresarial para apoyar la estrategia de negocio. Las tecnologías de información empresarial son un gran atractivo para compañías de diversos rubros, ya que apoyan la automatización integrada de todos los procesos de negocio que se llevan a cabo. El propósito de la investigación consiste en guiar a las empresas en el proceso de selección de un sistema de planificación de recursos empresariales, tomando como punto de referencia el estudio del caso específico del Centro Educativo YMTC. La teoría expuesta a través de la revisión de la literatura permite comprender aspectos relevantes acerca de las tecnologías de información empresarial y su evolución. La investigación posee un enfoque cualitativo y se hace uso de herramientas como entrevistas, plantillas y observación para la obtención de resultados. El análisis descriptivo y correlacional de los riesgos, criterios de selección, estrategia del negocio, necesidades de automatización y expectativas, permiten conocer a la organización para elegir un software de gestión empresarial capaz de adaptarse a esta. En conclusión el alineamiento armónico de los objetivos estratégicos, las necesidades de automatización de la empresa y los criterios de selección, representa un aspecto clave para considerar que la inversión tecnológica ha sido positiva. Finalmente, se lleva a cabo el proceso de selección eligiendo el sistema más idóneo para la empresa. De este modo, se cuenta con la seguridad de que la tecnología adoptada será de gran beneficio para la organización.The current research derives from the need manifested by companies to incorporate technology in order to support the business strategy. Enterprise information technologies represent a major attraction for companies of different sizes and industries because of their ability to integrate and automate all the business processes together. The main purpose of this study is to guide companies in selecting software that will benefit their strategy and ultimately help create an advantage over the rest of the competitors. The theoretical research has allowed a clear understanding of relevant aspects regarding enterprise resource planning solutions and their evolution. The research has a qualitative approach and investigation tools like interviews, templates, and observation were used to gather the results. Through a descriptive analysis and by finding relationships between influential variables (risks, selection criteria, business strategy, automation needs and expectations), it was possible to understand how the company works. This is an important step to search for an enterprise solution that clearly adapts to the organization. Through this research, it was possible to conclude that the alignment of the strategic goals established by the company along with the automation needs and the selection criteria defined, are a key aspect to consider the investment in technology as positive. Finally, the selection process of an enterprise resource planning solution for YMTC was carried out, choosing the ideal solution for the organization. Therefore, the company can implement the software knowing for sure that it will bring many benefits to the institution.
