Trafficc accidents (TA) are increasingly common in our everyday lives and the number of its victims is increasing considerably. Thus, this research makes a study on traffic accidents involving bikers in Araguaína-TO between 2013 and 2016. The goals of this research are understanding the major causes of traffic accidents involving bikers in Araguaína-TO, as well as identifying the sites where they occur more frequently and mapping them in order to contribute to their improvement. The major difficulties of this research result from the high rate of accidents involving bikers, which suggest some examination that lead us to try to understand the reason why they exist: Why are there so many accidents? Why are so many bikers involved with those? What are the problems? What is the solution to these problems? What the Government does to reverse or mitigate this situation? This research is both qualitative and quantitative so the methodological procedures used here consist primarily in readings of monographs, articles, books, theses, dissertations, among others, to carry out its theoretical framework, taking into account some authors from the area, such as: Gold (2001), Akishino (2004), Palm & Pereira (2011) and Pereira (2013). Finally, it is believed that this work will have a significant importance for the growth of Araguaina-TO given the regional and urban development, and as well as a source for future research which also seek to bring solutions to the problems regarding transit accidents involving bikers.Acidentes de trânsitos (AT) são cada vez mais comuns em nosso cotidiano, aumentando consideravelmente o número de suas vítimas. Nesse contexto, a presente pesquisa faz um estudo sobre os acidentes de trânsito envolvendo motociclistas em Araguaína – TO entre 2013 e 2016. Os objetivos da pesquisa consistem em compreender as principais causas de acidentes de trânsito envolvendo motociclistas em Araguaína – TO, bem como identificar quais são as áreas onde eles ocorrem com maior frequência e fazer um mapeamento no intuito de contribuir com a sua melhoria. A problemática dessa pesquisa surge a partir dos altos índices de acidentes envolvendo motos e que sugerem algumas indagações que nos levam a tentar compreender a razão pela qual eles existem, tais como; por que existem tantos acidentes? Porque tantos motociclistas estão envolvidos neles? Onde estão os problemas? Qual a solução para esses problemas? O que o poder público faz para reverter ou amenizar essa situação? Sendo essa uma pesquisa tanto qualitativa, como quantitativa os procedimentos metodológicos aqui utilizados consistem primeiramente em leituras de monografias, artigos, livros, teses, dissertações entre outros, para que fosse possível realizar o seu referencial teórico, levando em conta alguns autores da área, tais como: Gold (2001), Akishino (2004), Palmeira & Pereira (2011) e Pereira (2013). Por fim, acredita-se que este trabalho terá uma importância significativa para o crescimento de Araguaína – TO, levando em conta o desenvolvimento regional e urbano, além de servir futuramente como fonte para novas pesquisas que também busquem trazer soluções para os seus problemas no que se refere aos acidentes de trânsitos envolvendo motociclistas.
