This paper discusses the urban characteristics of the Carajá sector in Araguaína in 2021. The choice of this theme was due to the observation of existing problems in the sector, since identifying these problems is of great importance for the community that resides there. More precisely, the theme addresses the urban infrastructure and living conditions of the inhabitants of the Carajá sector, with regard to the economic and social area. A survey of primary and secondary data was carried out throughout the work so that the study does indeed have a structure and relevance according to the requirement of the scientific methodology. The methodology used was the descriptive with the following actions: bibliographic research on the topic, interview with the application of a socioeconomic questionnaire to 32 people, elaboration of maps based on data in geoprocessing software at the Geotechnology Laboratory of the Federal University of Northern Tocantins ( LabGeo). As a result, it was possible to observe that the sector has the characteristics of urban infrastructure and urban problems similar to most of the neighborhoods and sectors of Araguaína and other Brazilian cities, needing attention by the public management and residents to enable improvements. These characteristics and problems existing in the sector, negatively influence and hinder the lives of residents.O presente trabalho debate sobre as características urbanas do setor Carajá em Araguaína no ano de 2021. A escolha deste tema se deu devido a observação de problemas existentes no setor, visto que identificar esses problemas é de grande importância para a comunidade que ali reside. De uma forma mais precisa, a temática aborda a infraestrutura urbana e as condições de vida dos habitantes do setor Carajá, no que tange a área econômica e social. Foi realizado levantamento de dados primários e secundários durante todo o trabalho para que o estudo tenha de fato uma estrutura e relevância de acordo com a exigência da metodologia científica. A Metodologia utilizada foi a descritiva com as seguintes ações: pesquisa bibliográfica sobre o tema, entrevista com aplicação de questionário socioeconômico a 32 pessoas, elaboração de mapas a partir dos dados em softwares de geoprocessamento no Laboratório de geotecnologia da Universidade Federal do Norte do Tocantins (LabGeo). Como resultados, foi possível observar que o setor possui as características de infraestrutura urbana e problemas urbanos semelhantes à maioria dos bairros e setores de Araguaína e demais cidades brasileiras, carecendo de atenção por parte da gestão pública e dos moradores para a viabilização de melhorias. Estas características e problemas existentes no setor, influenciam negativamente e dificultam a vida dos moradores.
