This study sought to understand the socio-environmental impacts caused by floods in the municipality of Pedreiras-MA, period 2020/2021, seeking to first point out what can actually be considered a flood and the risks they cause to affected people, also making a retrospective of these floods on a macro scale and how they occur in different regions of the country. Afterwards, the work sought to carry out a reading and portray the reality of the municipality of Pedreiras and show the consequences of the floods in the municipality, also realizing which influences and actions are exercised by the government in the face of the problems faced, and how the population understands and behaves in the face of the challenges arising from this phenomenon.O presente trabalho buscou compreender os impactos socioambientais ocasionados pelas inundações no município de Pedreiras-MA, período 2020/2021, buscando pontuar primeiramente o que de fato pode ser considerado uma inundação e os riscos que causam para as pessoas afetadas, fazendo também um retrospecto dessas inundações em uma escala macro e como as mesmas ocorrem em regiões diferentes do país. Posteriormente a isso, o trabalho buscou realizar uma leitura e retratar a realidade do município de Pedreiras e mostrar os reflexos das inundações no município, percebendo ainda quais as influências e ações que são exercidas pelo poder público frente aos problemas enfrentados, e como a população entende e se comporta diante os desafios advindos desse fenômeno.
