This work has as Topic the students' lack of interest in Mathematics, in particular it was decided to investigate: what are the possible causes that led the students of the High School to have disinterest for the discipline of Mathematics? This work has as theoretical foundation references related to Mathematics Education and Education, as well as documents such as: Tocantins Curricular Reference, National Curricular Parameters (NCP) and others. Therefore, a survey was carried out from August 10 to August 19, 2016, which was adopted as an instrument for obtaining information: two questionnaires, one for the students and the other for the teachers of the Jorge Amado State School, In Araguaína - TO, to investigate some of the causes that may have led to the disinterest of these students by the discipline of Mathematics. In the sequence, a qualitative and quantitative analysis was carried out, based on the answers of the proposed questions, which were distributed in tables and graphs some causes that led them to the disinterest for the discipline of Mathematics, such as: the distraction With colleagues in the classroom with conversations, the use of cell phones, the lack of help from parents in school tasks and the lack of mastery of the basic content of Elementary School. Some argue that this was due to factors such as: monotonous lectures of teachers and students liking other subjects that do not require mental effort. Finally, we consider that this work may help future teachers to identify the possible causes that lead the student to disinterest for the Mathematics discipline and can stimulate them to seek solutions to lead the student to have an interest in the discipline.Este trabalho tem como Tema o Desinteresse dos alunos pela Matemática, em específico optou-se por investigar: quais são as possíveis causas que levaram os alunos do Ensino Médio a terem desinteresse pela disciplina de Matemática? Este trabalho tomou como fundamentação teórica referências relacionadas à Educação Matemática e a Educação, assim como documentos como: o Referencial Curricular do Tocantins, os Parâmetros Curriculares Nacionais (PCN) e outros. Diante disso, foi feita uma pesquisa no período de 10 de agosto a 19 de agosto de 2016, que adotou – se como instrumento de obtenção de informações: dois questionários, sendo um direcionado aos alunos e o outro aos professores da Escola Estadual Jorge Amado, em Araguaína – TO, para investigar algumas das causas que podem ter levado o desinteresse desses alunos pela disciplina de Matemática. Na sequência, realizou- se uma análise a partir de uma abordagem qualitativa e quantitativa, com base nas respostas das questões propostas, as quais foram distribuídas em quadros e gráficos algumas causas que os levaram ao desinteresse pela disciplina de Matemática, tais como: a distração com os colegas em sala com conversas, o uso de celulares, a falta de ajuda dos pais nas tarefas escolares e a falta de domínio do conteúdo básico do Ensino Fundamental. Alguns afirmam que isso foi decorrente de fatores como: aulas monótonas dos professores e dos alunos gostarem de outras disciplinas que não requer esforço mental. Por fim, consideramos que este trabalho poderá auxiliar os futuros professores a identificar as possíveis causas que levam o aluno ao desinteresse pela disciplina de Matemática e possa estimulá-los a buscarem soluções para levar o aluno a ter interesse pela disciplina.
