Ministério da Educação e Universidade Federal Rural da AmazôniaO gênero Justicia L. é o mais representativo em número de espécies em Acanthaceae, com ca. 600 espécies, sendo citadas 128 para o Brasil, distribuídas em todas as regiões e domínios fitogeográficos. Estudos de cunho taxonômico em Acanthaceae são incipientes com as espécies Amazônicas, estando limitados a alguns poucos trabalhos. Nessa perspectiva, o presente estudo taxonômico, direcionado para Justicia, incrementou as coleções dos herbários amazônicos e triplicou o número de espécies registradas para o Estado, ampliando assim o conhecimento sobre a distribuição desses táxons não só para o estado do Pará, como para o Brasil. O presente tratamento taxonômico foi baseado em material herborizado proveniente das coleções dos herbários amazônicos HBRA, HCJS, HSTM, IAN, MFS, MG e INPA e extra-amazônicos R, RB, BHCB, SP e SPF, além de expedições de coleta ao longo da área de estudo e acompanhamento de plantas cultivadas. A pesquisa resultou em dois capítulos, no primeiro "O gênero Justicia L. (Acanthaceae) no estado do Pará, Brasil", são tratadas taxonomicamente 28 espécies, sendo sete novos registros para o estado do Pará, foram lectotipificados seis nomes aceitos de Justicia e proposto um nome novo, também foi publicado uma espécie nova para a ciência (Anexo) e descoberto mais seis, onde três delas são apresentadas no capítulo dois "Three New Species of Justicia L. (Acanthaceae) from Brazil" e as outras três (Justicia sp. 1, sp. 2 e sp. 3) estão em processo de compilação e confecção dos dados para publicação. Três espécies não foram determinadas (Justicia aff. cayennensis, Justicia sp. 4 e sp. 5) necessitando de maiores estudos para confirmação de seus nomes. Dessa forma a presente pesquisa contribuiu para o conhecimento da Flora Amazônica e Brasileira.The genus Justicia L. is the most representative in number of species in Acanthaceae, with ca. 600 species, being mentioned 128 for Brazil, distributed in ali regions and phytogeographical domains. Taxonomic studies on Acanthaceae are incipient with Amazonian species, and are limited to a few works. In this perspective, the present taxonomic study, directed to Justicia, increased the collections of the Amazon herbaria and tripled the number of species registered to the State, increasing the knowledge on the distribution of these taxa for the State of Pará, but also for Brazil. The present taxonomic treatment was based on herbarium material from collections of the Amazon herbaria HBRA, HCJS, HSTM, lAN, MFS, MG, and INPA, and extra-Amazonian R, RB, BHCB, SP, and SPF, as well as field expeditions throughout the study, arca and monitoring of cultivated plants. The research resulted in two chapters: in the first "The genus Justicia L. (Acanthaceae) in the State of Pará, Brazil", 28 species are taxonomically treated, with seven new records for the State of Pará; six accepted names of Justicia are lectotipified and proposed a new name, a new species was also published (Annex) and and were six more. Three of them are presented in chapter two "Three New Species of Justicia L. (Acanthaceae) from Brazil" and the remaining three (Justicia sp.l, sp.2 and sp.3) are in the process of compiling and making the data for publication. Three species were not identified (Justicia aff.
