The purpose of the adoption is the establishment of a true family like the one that exists among the united ones for knots of blood, with all the rights and duties that it shares it, since by virtue of the adoption the adoptante puts under an obligation to take care and to attend the adoptive son, to educate him, to support him, to love him and to provide it of all the necessary conditions so that it grows in atmosphere of well-being, affection and solidarity. (you sentence C 562 of 1995, C 477-1999 Constitutional Court) The general objective of this investigation was to determine the importance that has the study of the process of single women's adoption in the city of Barranquilla. The method used in this investigation is the deductive method that begins for the study of a global reality which is the adoption, with the purpose of arriving to conclusions and premises of particular character as it is the case of the adoption of smaller on the part of the single women in the city of Barranquilla, keeping at the moment in mind the different aspects and the effective legislation for this end, as well as the jurisprudence applied in this field that although it is not believed day by day it increases in number and it has been little studied. In conclusion one can say that at the moment the adoption is an Institution of the Right of Family, been founded in an act of will of the adoptante and that, by means of a sentence, believe a relationship paternal assimilated filiar, in its effects, to the legitimate or matrimonial filiation. The problem of the childhood in Colombia is a matter of capital importance, at the present time that the improvement of the quality of life of the future generations is not limited, but rather he/she should become a challenge of the present like indispensable budget so that it exists real and affectively the so yearned social justice.La finalidad de la adopción es el establecimiento de una verdadera familia como la que existe entre los unidos por lazos de sangre, con todos los derechos y deberes que ello comparte, ya que en virtud de la adopción el adoptante se obliga a cuidar y asistir al hijo adoptivo, a educarlo, apoyarlo, amarlo y proveerlo de todas las condiciones necesarias para que crezca en ambiente de bienestar, afecto y solidaridad. (sentencias C 562 de 1995, C 477-1999 Corte Constitucional) El objetivo general de esta investigación fue determinar la importancia que tiene el estudio del proceso de adopción de mujeres solteras en la ciudad de Barranquilla. El método utilizado en esta investigación es el método deductivo, que se inicia por el estudio de una realidad global la cual es la adopción, con el propósito de llegar a conclusiones y premisas de carácter particular como es el caso de la adopción de menores por parte de las mujeres solteras en la ciudad de Barranquilla, teniendo en cuenta los diferentes aspectos y la legislación vigente actualmente para este fin, así como la jurisprudencia aplicada en este campo que aunque no se crea día a día aumenta en número y ha sido poco estudiada. En conclusión se puede decir que actualmente la adopción es una Institución del Derecho de Familia, fundada en un acto de voluntad del adoptante y que, por medio de una sentencia, crea una relación paterna filiar asimilada, en sus efectos, a la filiación legítima o matrimonial. La problemática de la niñez en Colombia es un asunto de capital importancia, en la actualidad que no se limita el mejoramiento de la calidad de vida de las generaciones futuras, sino que debe convertirse en un reto del presente como presupuesto indispensable para que exista real y afectivamente la tan anhelada justicia social.
