El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo analizar los datos de velocidad del viento de una estación meteorología en Colombia. Para ellos se analizaron los datos de velocidad del viento para un periodo de 24 horas durante un mes. Se observaron tendencias similares de la velocidad del viento en diferentes días, donde la velocidad del viento más alta y baja pertenecían al día 2 y el día 4. Se aplicaron las funciones de distribución de Weibull y Rosa de los vientos para encontrar la mejor herramienta de ajuste a los datos de velocidad del viento y Para determinar el potencial de energía eólica y determinar la dirección o direcciones que permitan maximizar la energía captada por la turbina, y de esta manera instalar los aerogeneradores en la ubicación más idónea.The objective of this study was to analyze wind speed data from a meteorological station in Colombia. For this purpose, wind speed data were analyzed for a 24-hour period during one month. Similar wind speed trends were observed on different days, where the highest and lowest wind speed belonged to day 2 and day 4. The Weibull distribution functions, and wind rose were applied to find the best fitting tool to the wind speed data and to determine the wind energy potential and determine the direction(s) to maximize the energy captured by the turbine, and thus install the wind turbines in the most suitable location
