The objective of this research is to demonstrate the importance of the flight security using the radio communication between the pilot and flight controller. It allows to understand that there is a lack of courses and proficiency tests in order to standardize the communications suggested by ICAO. This methodology of this study was exploratory with a in-depth bibliographic and documental research on books, articles, documentaries, regulations and laws. The approach was on a qualitative basis exploring real cases of how the lack of communications can impact negatively the flight operation. It provokes the reflection of the actual communication model used between the pilot and the flight controller and its consequences, exploring new hypothesis that could mitigate future risks in the aviation industry. The research and analysis on books, articles and legislations of Brazilian Civil Aviation describes the issues of communication between pilots and flight controllers, demonstrating the importance of standardizing the radio communication between pilots and flight controllers. In conclusion, albeit we demonstrate in this study the importance and the need to phraseology skills, it was possible to identify that schools don´t teach this course because it is not mandatory by ICAO nor the Brazilian Government. Maybe we are far from phraseology becoming part of the protocol, as there is no official or scientific document proving the essential need of this regulation. Even the DOC 9835, only international linguistic proficiency test, determines that no standard phraseology shall be tested.Esta pesquisa teve como objetivo demonstrar a importância da comunicação radiofônica entre piloto e controlador de voo para a segurança de voo e procurar entender a falta de cursos e testes de proficiência para o padrão de comunicação sugerido pela ICAO. Caracteriza-se como uma pesquisa exploratória, com procedimento bibliográfico e documental por meio de livros, artigos, reportagens, regulamentos e leis. A abordagem utilizada foi qualitativa, por se basear na realidade dos casos em que a falha na comunicação coloca em risco a operação aérea. A partir da análise dos dados, foi possível verificar que as escolas não ministram o curso de proficiência, porque não é previsto a exigência pela ICAO, e consequentemente, nem pelo Estado Brasileiro. Conclui-se que tal exigência é remota que aconteça, pois não constatamos documentos oficiais dos órgãos reguladores que cite sobre essa necessidade, embora, como visto nesta pesquisa, haja diversos estudos sobre o assunto. E para completar, como aqui é apresentado, no DOC 9835, que rege o teste de proficiência linguística internacional, determina que não seja avaliado a fraseologia padrão no teste de proficiência linguística do idioma franco
