The present study consists in problematization the utilization of instruments and techniques on the professional exercise of the social worker at the Minas Gerais’s Judiciary Power. Its porpouse was to bring instruments and techniques into a dialogue, after realizing that few studies about the theme were published, despite its great importance on the practice of the profession’s development. Problematize this study’s object required a search for the Social Work’s professional project, since we comprehended that only by reaching its meanings and goals would be possible to understand that these techniques and instruments must reflect both ethical and political directions of the practice in the profession. It required, as well, the presentation and the debate about authors from the 90’s, which elected this theme as a study object. In fact, all theoretical sources used to analize the eminently qualitative results of the research performed with Social Workers came from these authors. The study’s main objective was the way these professionals use the referred instruments and techniques. On this line of thought, the study’s results pointed us to how these professionals are using the techniques and instruments while working on the Judiciary Power, what allowed us to immerse on the theme, but also conducted us to a reflection about some aspects of this profession’s exercise and about the professional project daily reaffirmed on this ambient as well.O presente trabalho consiste na problematização dos instrumentos e técnicas no exercício profissional do Assistente Social inserido no Poder Judiciário Mineiro. Objetivou-se trazer os instrumentos e técnicas ao centro do debate, visto que os estudos sobre a temática ainda são escassos diante da importância que tais elementos assumem no exercício profissional do Assistente Social e, por suposto, na reafirmação cotidiana de seu projeto profissional. Problematizar tal objeto de estudo requereu em princípio resgatar o projeto profissional do Serviço Social, uma vez que compreendemos que o debate sobre qualquer aspecto inerente ao exercício profissional do Assistente Social, no caso a utilização dos instrumentos e técnicas, deve estar contido no interior do projeto profissional, haja vista que este representa a auto imagem do Serviço Social, ou seja, reflete a direção ética e política que a profissão irá imprimir ao seu exercício profissional. Requereu também a apresentação e o debate sobre o ponto de vista dos autores que a partir da década de 1990 elegeram a temática como objeto de estudo. Aliás, foi a partir desse debate que tivemos os subsídios teóricos para analisarmos os resultados da pesquisa de caráter eminentemente qualitativo realizada com assistentes sociais judiciais, cujo tema era a maneira como esses profissionais utilizam os instrumentos e técnicas. Nesse sentido, os resultados da pesquisa nos apontaram como as assistentes sociais vêm utilizando os instrumentos e técnicas e conduzindo o exercício profissional no âmbito do Poder Judiciário, o que nos possibilitou não só aprofundar o estudo sobre a temática, mas também refletir sobre alguns aspectos do exercício profissional, bem como sobre o projeto profissional reafirmado cotidianamente no âmbito desse espaço sócio-ocupacional.
