The management case will address the results of the State School of Água Quente in the Evaluation Program of the Public Basic Education Network (PROEB), which is part of the Minas Gerais Public Education Evaluation System (SIMAVE). I have been acting as director of this school since January 2016 and as a teacher I realized over the years that students reach the 6th year of elementary school with major deficiencies in learning the curriculum components, especially in Portuguese and Mathematics. This case study aims to identify the reasons that contribute to the high percentage of students in standards below the recommended PROEB. As a result, we sought to describe the context of the analyzed institution and its results in PROEB and to analyze the results in PROEB of the 5th year of elementary school, in the subjects of Portuguese and Mathematics, during the period from 2011 to 2016. The present study analyzes the possible elements that have been causing the poor performance of the school, focusing on the organization / management and school supervision and on the pedagogical practices of the teachers. The field research, of qualitative character, used as instruments the documental analysis and the questionnaire with the pedagogical team and teachers. The data obtained with these instruments were analyzed from the theoretical framework brought up in the studies of Alarção (2000 and 2001), Silva and Araújo (2011), Franco and Bonamino (2005, 2007), in addition to other authors who address school effectiveness. The field research showed us that the monitoring work developed by the management and pedagogical team needs to be improved. The last chapter is propositional and consists of presenting actions to improve the practices of the current management, with regard to the monitoring and advice of the pedagogical practices applied with the actors of the school, seeking improvements in the performance of the students of the researched school.O caso de gestão abordará os resultados da Escola Estadual de Água Quente no Programa de Avaliação da Rede Pública de Educação Básica (PROEB), que integra o Sistema Mineiro de Avaliação da Educação Pública (SIMAVE). Atuo como diretor desta escola desde janeiro de 2016 e ainda como professor percebi ao longo dos anos que os alunos chegam ao 6º ano do ensino fundamental com grandes deficiências no aprendizado dos componentes curriculares, especialmente, em Língua Portuguesa e Matemática. Este estudo de caso tem como objetivo identificar os motivos que contribuem para o alto percentual de alunos nos padrões abaixo do recomendado do PROEB. Como isso, buscou-se descrever o contexto da instituição analisada e os seus resultados no PROEB e analisar os resultados no PROEB do 5º ano do Ensino Fundamental, nas disciplinas de Língua Portuguesa e de Matemática, durante o período de 2011 a 2016. O presente estudo analisa os possíveis elementos que vêm causando o baixo desempenho da escola, concentrando-se na organização/gestão e supervisão escolar e nas práticas pedagógicas dos professores. A pesquisa de campo, de caráter qualitativo, utilizou como instrumentos a análise documental e o questionário com a equipe pedagógica e professoras. Os dados obtidos com estes instrumentos foram analisados a partir do referencial teórico trazido nos estudos de Alarção (2000 e 2001), Silva e Araújo (2011), Franco e Bonamino (2005, 2007), além de outros autores que abordam a eficácia escolar. A pesquisa de campo nos apontou que o trabalho de monitoramento desenvolvido pela equipe gestora e pedagógica precisa ser melhorado. O último capítulo é propositivo e consiste em apresentar ações para melhorar as práticas da atual gestão, no que se refere ao monitoramento e assessoramento das práticas pedagógicas aplicadas junto aos atores da escola, buscando melhorias no desempenho dos estudantes da escola pesquisada.
