We have an extremely syncretic country where the range of religions is very wide, the readings allow us to conclude that effectively pure Christianity never existed thus religions intermingle and intertwine at some point if coincide in certain elements, rituals, beliefs. The objective of this study is to make a study analyzing the possible origin of religious syncretism in Brazil, seeking to understand the cultural and religious aspects of specific way between Catholicism and religions of African origin. Understanding syncretism sheds also seeking to analyze the strong presence of the Virgin Mary in different cults of African origin.Temos um país extremamente sincrético onde a gama de religiões é muito ampla, as leituras nos permitem concluir que efetivamente o cristianismo puro jamais existiu sendo assim as religiões se misturam e se entrelaçam em algum ponto se coincidem em certos elementos, rituais, crenças. O objetivo do presente trabalho é fazer um estudo analisando a possível origem do sincretismo religioso no Brasil, buscando entender os aspectos culturais e religiosos de maneira especifica entre o Catolicismo e as religiões de matriz africana. Compreendendo as vertentes do sincretismo buscando também analisar a forte presença da Virgem Maria em diferentes cultos de matriz africana.
