dc.descriptionResumo O Brasil não dispõe de um banco de dados eletrônico da estatística pesqueira continental. Esse estudo é o primeiro a ser realizado com o objetivo de preencher essa lacuna, compilando os dados de captura do pescado continental registrados para o estado de Sergipe nos anos de 1950 a 2014 e estabelecendo a correspondência entre nome comum e nome científico das espécies capturadas. Para isso, foram compilados os dados dos boletins nacionais oficiais e realizadas interpolações e extrapolações, com base nas tendências históricas dos dados. As principais espécies capturadas nas águas continentais do Estado foram: curimatã (Prochilodus argenteus), tilápia (Oreochromis niloticus e Coptodon rendalli), traíra (Hoplias aff. malabaricus), piaus (Leporinus spp.), tambaqui (Colossoma macropomum), corvinas (Pachyurus francisci e Pachyurus squamipinnis), piranha e pirambeba (Pygocentrus piraya e Serrasalmus brandtii), mandi ou bagre (Pimelodus maculatus), carpa (Cyprinus carpio), tucunarés (Cichla spp.) e camarão de água doce (Macrobrachium acanthurus e Macrobrachium carcinus). A captura de todas essas espécies sofreu declínio entre os anos de 1999 e 2001. O declínio da maior parte dessas espécies esteve associado à construção de hidrelétricas nessa região e a uma forte seca no mesmo período. Algumas espécies mais resilientes conseguiram se recuperar em um período curto. Notou-se que algumas espécies como a pilombeta (Anchoviella spp.) e o caranguejo (Ucides cordatus) tiveram capturas registradas em alguns anos na seção de água doce e outros na seção marinha dos boletins nacionais e foram excluídas dessa análise. Espera-se que esse trabalho incentive outros pesquisadores a realizarem a reconstrução para outros estados do Brasil e para todo o país.Abstract  Brazil does not have an electronic database for inland catch statistics. This study is the first to be carried out with the objective of overcoming this gap, compiling catch statistics for inland fisheries reported for the state of Sergipe from 1950 to 2014, establishing the correspondence between common and scientific names. Data from official national bulletins were compiled and interpolations and extrapolations were performed based on historical trends. Main species, specifying the common name in English, in Portuguese (Brazil) and the scientific name in brackets, caught in inland waters of the state were: “curimatã” (Prochilodus argenteus), tilapias (Oreochromis niloticus and Coptodon rendalli), trahira (Hoplias aff. malabaricus), leporinus, (Leporinus spp.), tambaqui (Colossoma macropomum), San Francisco croakers (Pachyurus francisci and Pachyurus squamipinnis), San Francisco piranha (Pygocentrus piraya), white piranha, (Serrasalmus brandtii), catfish (Pimelodus maculatus), commun carp (Cyprinus carpio), peacock bass (Cichla spp.), cinnamon river shrimp (Macrobrachium acanthurus) and painted river prawn (Macrobrachium carcinus). Catches for all these species showed a decline between 1999 and 2001, which for most of these species was associated with the construction of dams in the region and a strong dry period. Some species, such as “pilombeta” (Anchoviella spp.) and the mangrove crab (Ucides cordatus), had their catches reported in the inland section of the national bulletins during some years and in the marine section during others and were excluded from this analysis. We hope this study activates other researchers to proceed with the reconstruction for other states and for the entire country.pt-BR
