dc.descriptionThis dissertation reflects on the theater performed in the 1980s in the city of Uberaba - MG during the Redemocratization period in Brazil. Through archives of newspapers of the time and testimonials of artists and cultural agents of the city I try to map this theatrical history and its actors. Even with all the omens of Uberaba society saying that “Uberaba had no more theater”, that “the theater had died in the 1970s”, this research goes against these omens and broke in its lines the significant memory of the theatrical acts of 1980. The research is an invitation to think about the importance of amateur theater as a formative element of artists in cities in the interior of Brazil, Minas Gerais, from Uberaba.

dc.descriptionA presente dissertação vem refletir sobre o teatro realizado na década de 1980 na cidade de Uberaba – MG no período de Redemocratização no Brasil. Através de arquivos de jornais da época e depoimentos de artistas e agentes culturais da cidade tento cartografar essa história teatral e seus atores. Mesmo com todos os presságios da sociedade uberabense ao dizer que “Uberaba não tinha mais teatro”, que “o teatro havia morrido na década de 1970”, essa pesquisa vem na contramão desses agouros e desbrava em suas linhas a significativa memória dos fazeres teatrais de 1980. A pesquisa é um convite para pensarmos sobre a importância do teatro amador como elemento formativo de artistas em cidades do interior do Brasil, Minas Gerais, a partir de Uberaba.
