| dc.description | This study aims to investigate the effect of negative emotional induction made with subliminal stimulus on implicit learning tasks. Seventeen subjects (10 female) were assigned randomly to two groups, experimental (EG) and control (CG). For both groups, images from International Affective Picture System (IAPS) were presented, each for 17 milliseconds, with negative valence (EG) neutral valence (CG). After this emotional induction, subjects performed two implicit learning tasks: stimulus sequence (T1) and motor sequence (T2). For both tasks, the correct answer rate and reaction time were measured, which were submitted to a mixed variance analysis (ANOVA) with a between factor [2 emotional valences (neutral and negative)] and a within factor (blocks). Results showed that emotional induction was not effective, or at least did not maintain itself during the experiment. Therefore, we could not find differences between EG and CG in both tasks. We conclude that the subjects learned sequences implicitly and we discuss the reasoning behind the inefficiency of the emotional induction. | |

| dc.description | O presente trabalho tem por objetivo investigar o efeito de indução emocional negativa com estímulos subliminares em tarefas de aprendizagem implícita. Dezessete voluntários (10 do sexo feminino) foram designados aleatoriamente a dois grupos, experimental (GE) e controle (GC). Ambos os grupos observaram imagens do International Affective Picture System (IAPS), cada uma por 17 milissegundos, sendo elas de valência negativa para o GE e de valência neutral para o GC. Após essa indução emocional, os participantes realizaram as tarefas de aprendizagem implícita de sequência de estímulos (T1) e de sequência motora (T2). Para cada tarefa, foram calculadas a taxa de respostas corretas e o tempo de reação, os quais foram submetidos a uma análise de variância (ANOVA) mista com um fator independente [2 valências emocionais (neutra e negativa)] e um fator de medida repetida (blocos). Os resultados mostraram que a indução emocional não foi eficiente, ou pelo menos não se manteve ao longo do experimento. Dessa maneira, não se encontrou diferenças no desempenho dos participantes do grupo controle e do grupo experimental nas duas tarefas. Conclui-se que os participantes aprenderam implicitamente as sequências de ambas as tarefas e discute-se os motivos da ineficácia da indução emocional. | |
