dc.descriptionThis paper aims to discuss the representation of the intellectual in this play \"Life of Galileo\" by Bertolt Brecht, in its third version produced in 1954. The part of the plot takes place in seventeenth-century Italy and depicts a partial biography of Galileo Galilei, a renowned scientist of his time. But, this intellectual suffers from social oppressions of his time to think and produce knowledge. The piece discussed the unique characteristics of the inserted intellectuals in scientific development in the post World War II period. Therefore, think about the features which in turn are part of the developed discussion, such as engagement, critical theory of knowledge in the twentieth century, autonomy in intellectual work and the possibilities in part to reflect on what a intellectual on the historical and social process, make up the focus of this discussion. Overall, we seek to understand the meaning used in the piece and the main character you want to think about the role of the intellectual in society.

dc.descriptionEsta dissertação tem por objetivo discutir a representação do intelectual presente na peça teatral A Vida de Galileu de Bertolt Brecht, na sua terceira versão produzida em 1954. O enredo da peça se passa na Itália do século XVII e retrata uma parcial biografia de Galileu Galilei, um renomado cientista de sua época. Porém, tal intelectual sofre com as opressões sociais de seu tempo ao pensar e produzir conhecimento. A peça discuti as singulares características dos intelectuais inseridos no desenvolvimento científico no período pós Segunda Guerra Mundial. Para tanto, refletir sobre as características que por sua vez fazem parte da discussão desenvolvida, como o engajamento, a crítica a teoria do conhecimento no século XX, a autonomia no trabalho intelectual e as possibilidades existentes na peça de se refletir sobre o que é um intelectual diante do processo histórico e social, compõem o foco dessa discussão. No geral, buscamos compreender o sentido empregado na peça e na personagem principal que pretende pensar o papel do intelectual com a sociedade.
