dc.descriptionIn this study, the French work Le chef-d oeuvre inconnu by Honoré de Balzac is the corpus of analysis, as well as the pictorial productions derived from this Balzac s work, concerning real and fictional painting-characters, as Frenhofer, Poussin and Porbus. This dissertation intends to demonstrate in which way the artistic representation, both in literature and in painting, emulates the artist s life. The methodology of this study was the bibliographical review of texts about the analyzed work and the author s life, as well as texts about aesthetics of reception theory, interart studies, and comparative theory. All these texts have contributed to a comparative study between Balzacian novel and its portrayed painters from the Barroque, Romanticism or Impressionism and works that develop themes such as the existence of masterpieces, the master-apprentice relationship and the great drama within the artistic creation. This study also aimed the comprehension of the artistic phenomenal in relation to the accomplishment, in real life, of the artist s imagination. In artistic creation, is it possible to study a text that portraits poetically the art of painting, in a real but abstract way, in the artist s imagination? But this painting is about, specifically? About the possible or the impossible so desired and defined? These questions reveal the conflict between reality and imagination. The concrete painting dialogues with the imagetic desire of perfection or they can even replace each other, in a way that is irrelevant or imperceptible to the reader.

dc.descriptionNo presente estudo, que tem como corpus de análise a obra francesa Le chef-d oeuvre inconnu, de Honoré de Balzac, articulada as produções pictóricas advindas da própria obra mediante os personagens-pintores reais e ficcionais, Frenhofer, Poussin e Porbus, pretende-se demonstrar como a representação artística, tanto na literatura, quanto na pintura, se constitui como um êmulo na vida do artista. Foram utilizados como princípios metodológicos, a revisão bibliográfica da obra de análise e da vida do autor, dos textos que tratassem da teoria da estética da recepção, dos estudos interartes e da teoria comparada, que contribuíram para o estudo entre a novela balzaquiana com os pintores nela retratados, seja do Barroco, do Romantismo ou do Impressionismo, bem como de textos que pudessem desenvolver os temas por nos propostos, como a questão das grandes obras, da relação entre mestre e aprendiz e do grande drama da criação artística. Objetivou-se com este a busca pela compreensão do fenômeno artístico em vista da concretização, no real, do conteúdo imaginado pelo artista. No que se refere á criação, é possível estudar um texto que retrate poeticamente o ofício do pintar, ainda que de forma real, mas abstrata, no imaginário? Mas esse pintar seria o quê, especificamente? Do possível ou do impossível tão almejado e situado? Tais questões perfazem o conteúdo da obra trazendo constantemente o conflito entre realidade e imaginário. A pintura concreta e o desejo imagético da perfeição dialogam entre si. Em outro momento ocorre a necessidade de substituição entre um e outro, o que, muitas vezes, é irrelevante e/ou imperceptível ao leitor.
