dc.descriptionThe purpose of the dissertation is to problematize the nationalizing and civilizing function granted to the health sector in the years of 1930 to 1945 as well as the discourses about moral, disciplinarization and progress that were integrated to health precepts widespread by newspapers. It aims to analyse the discourses that evoke the formation of a healthier people in a spiritual, moral, physical and intellectual way, wich are reiterated and irradiated in the articles that were part of the health education project. To attend these goals, were analyzed texts that involve health issues disseminated by newspapers from the cities of Uberlândia and Araguari, in Minas Gerais, Brazil. The sources of investigation will be the following newspapers: O Triângulo, from Araguari, and A Tribuna, Correio de Uberlândia, Jornal de Uberlândia, O Bandeirante, O Estado de Goyaz and Voz Central, from Uberlândia. The written press in the present research is a key element to make understandable the public health politics of Getúlio Vargas government and how it was fundamental for the dissemination of discourses and political actions linked to governmental interests in the attempt to mold men and women, guiding behaviors and insinuating the appropriate social conducts.

dc.descriptionO intuito da dissertação é problematizar a função nacionalizadora e civilizadora outorgada à área da saúde nos anos de 1930 a 1945 e os discursos de moral, disciplinarização e progresso que se integraram a preceitos sanitários difundidos nos jornais. Busca-se analisar os discursos que evocam a formação de um povo mais sadio espiritual, moral, físico e intelectualmente que são reiterados e irradiados nos artigos que integravam o projeto de educação sanitária. Para atender a esses objetivos, foram analisados os textos que envolvem temas sobre saúde disseminados pelos jornais das cidades de Uberlândia e Araguari, no Triângulo Mineiro, estado de Minas Gerais, Brasil. Serão fontes de investigação os jornais O Triângulo, de Araguari, e A Tribuna, Correio de Uberlândia, Jornal de Uberlândia, O Bandeirante, O Estado de Goyaz e Voz Central, de Uberlândia. A imprensa escrita, na presente pesquisa, é elemento-chave para se fazer compreender a política de saúde pública do governo de Getúlio Vargas e como ela foi fundamental para a difusão de discursos e ações políticas atreladas aos interesses governamentais na tentativa de moldar homens e mulheres, pautando comportamentos e insinuando as condutas socialmente apropriadas.
