| dc.description | This study aimed to analyze the political career of Colonel Joaquim da Cunha Diniz Junqueira. Thus, were developed a research on the construction of its web of power, through which exerted a strong political influence in the state of São Paulo, especially in the region of Ribeirão Preto, also often impacting the state policy and federal. Thereby, was br7iefly analyzed the formation of the Ribeirão Preto city and also the powerful family Junqueira, especially regarding their strategies for obtaining and maintaining power. In this context, were discussed aspects of the acting of the colonels and colonel Junqueira during relevant moments in the history of the First Republic, as the Lieutenants\' Revolt and the Constitutional Revolution of 1932. This was possible through information gathering of the private collection of Colonel Junqueira and other important politicians of the First Republic - as the governor of the state of São Paulo Altino Arantes and the president Luiz Washington - as well as newspapers, minutes of the Municipality of Ribeirão Preto and several other sources. Also were investigated to improve this work several elements of the political culture of the state of São Paulo, particularly between the years 1887 and 1932. | |

| dc.description | Este trabalho teve como objetivo analisar a trajetória política do coronel Joaquim da Cunha Diniz Junqueira. Para tanto, desenvolveu-se uma investigação sobre a construção de sua teia de poder, por meio da qual exerceu forte influência política no interior do estado de São Paulo, principalmente na região de Ribeirão Preto, muitas vezes, impactando também a política estadual e federal. Desse modo, foi brevemente analisada a formação da cidade de Ribeirão Preto e também a poderosa família Junqueira, especialmente em relação às suas estratégias de obtenção e manutenção de poder. Nesse contexto, foram discutidos aspectos do coronelismo e da atuação do coronel Junqueira durante momentos relevantes da história da Primeira Republica, como a Revolta Tenentista e a Revolução Constitucionalista de 1932. Isso foi possível por meio da reunião de informações do acervo privado do coronel Junqueira e de outros políticos importantes da Primeira República como o governador do estado de São Paulo Altino Arantes e o presidente da República Washington Luiz , assim como de jornais, de atas da Câmara Municipal de Ribeirão Preto e de diversas outras fontes. Investigou-se também, para enriquecer este trabalho, diversos elementos da cultura política do interior do estado de São Paulo, particularmente entre os anos de 1887 e 1932. | |
