Resumen
Ecologia Florestal Understanding the processes that maintain natural ecosystems has
always been of great interest of man. Over time, it was noted that the analysis of
such processes provides relevant information that can guide decision-making in
conservation and management of wildlife. In this regard, studies related to litter
provide valuable information on the vegetation and the ecosystem's ability to
recycle nutrients and organic matter. Among the factors that can alter the
dynamics of litter, there is fire, which quickly consumes biomass litter and cause
changes in vegetation, thus changing the return process of biomass and nutrients
to the soil. Because of the knowledge gap on this issue, this dissertation,
developed in ecotone area between Atlantic Forest and Cerrado, in southern
Minas Gerais, sought to evaluate: (a) how happens the deposition of litter in
different natural environments affected or not by fire; (b) the present
macronutrient content in the leaf litter of these same environments as well as it
return to the ground. For this, litter collectors were used in eight different
environments after fire, one of which was not reached by the fire. The
collections of 25 months were separated and weighed, obtaining the dry weight
of each fraction. The sheets were submitted for chemical analysis, thereby
generating the macronutrient content contained therein. Forest environments had
higher litter input and responded more strongly to the seasonality of the more
open environments, where the fire had more drastic effects on vegetation. While
the nutrient content varied between different environments, their return was
higher in forest environments, where the leaf biomass in litter is greater.
