Notícias, fatos históricos, biografias e narrativas ficcionais são textos encontrados em jornais Portugueses do início do século XIX. Estabelecendo um recorte, investigaremos o periódico Universo Pittoresco (1839), publicado com a indicação “jornal de Instrucção [sic] e Recreio”, disponível em versão digital no site do projeto temático “O Real em revista”. A partir das imagens das páginas do jornal, verificamos que foram nele publicados textos em prosa de ficção, alguns dos quais intentamos analisar material e textualmente. Para tanto, são utilizados materiais teóricos que versam sobre a História do Livro e da Leitura (CHARTIER, 2001 e DARNTON, 1990); a imprensa periódica em Portugal (TENGARRINHA, 1989); as questões relativas à publicação e à leitura de textos em prosa de ficção (THÉRENTY, 2015), entre outros. A pesquisa contou com o apoio do CNPq sob forma de bolsa PIBIC, contudo o início dos trabalhos deu-se em pós-doutorado realizado no Ibilce/Unesp, entre 2015 e 2016.News, facts, biographies and fictional narratives are texts found in Portuguese newspapers of the early nineteenth century. Establishing a clipping, we will investigate the periodical Universo Pittoresco (1839), published like "jornal de Instrucção [sic] e Recreio", available as a digital version on the website of the project "O Real em revista". From the images of the newspaper, we find prose fiction published in it, some of which we try to analyze materially and textually. For that, theoretical materials are used that deal with: History of the Book and the Reading (CHARTIER, 2001 and DARNTON, 1990); periodic press in Portugal (TENGARRINHA, 1989); issues related to the publication and reading of texts in prose fiction (THÉRENTY, 2015), among others. The research had the support of the CNPq in the form of a PIBIC scholarship. The beginning of the research took place in the post-doctoral at Ibilce / Unesp between 2015 and 2016.
