O objetivo deste artigo foi apresentar um estudo bibliográfico para conhecer e refletir acerca das influências das relações de gênero no processo de partilha e transmissão de herança. Tradicionalmente entre agricultores familiares a herança corresponde a terra e, em geral, é repassada aos filhos do sexo masculino, excluindo as mulheres da partilha. A herança de pais para filhos é uma forma de transferência de recursos familiares entre gerações e, portanto, afetará o nível de bem-estar econômico daqueles que a recebem. Considerando que as mulheres em algumas culturas são excluídas da partilha da herança, elas se encontram com menores possibilidades de melhorar seu nível de bem-estar econômico.The objective of this paper was to present a bibliographic review in order to learn and reflect on the influence of gender relations on the process of division and transmission of heritages. Among family farmers, heritage traditionally corresponds to the land and is usually passed on from parents to their sons, excluding women from the division. The passing on of heritage from fathers to sons is a form of transferring family resources from one generation to another, and thus affects the level of economic well-being of those who receive it (heirs). Considering that in some cultures, women are excluded from the division, they find themselves with lesser possibilities of improving their economic well-being.
