O objetivo deste trabalho foi determinar o limite de liquidez em quatro latossolos de Minas Gerais, utilizando-se um penetrômetro de cone e comparar este método com o método-padrão de Casagrande_ As amostras analisadas com o penetrômetro de cone foram preparadas por via Úmida e submetidas ao teste após prévia calibração do aparelho. Apesar de os métodos não apresentarem diferença significativa em solos com menor teor de argila, a pesquisa comprovou comprovar que o uso do penetrômetro de cone apresenta algumas vantagens sobre o aparelho de Casagrande em solos mais argilosos: é mais rápido, menos sujeito às influências do analista e de grande praticidade a determinação.The objective of this work was to determine the liquid limit in four Latosols of Minas Gerais, using the cone penetrometer and to compare this method with the standard method by Casagrande. The sample analyzed with the cone penetrometer was prepared via moisture and the test taken after the calibration of the apparatus. The results obtained by both methods did not present any significant difference in soils with low clay content, moisture and the test taken after the calibratíon of the apparatus. The results obtained by both methods did not presents any significant ditfermce in soils with low clay content, however, they showed that the use of the cone penetrometer has several advantages over the Casagrande appalams in clayey soils: it's a faster method, less analyst dependent and extremely practical.
