dc.descriptionThe archaeological research reported here has two primary developments. First, a bibliographic study was carried out on the survival and lifeways of the Alto Ramirez people and the water resources that drain from the low mountain slopes of the Azapa Valley, in the context of survival and Alto Ramirez ways of living. Second, the function of the tombs was discussed as sacred spaces, where incipient agricultural groups were buried. From a methodology point of view related to water resources, every slope in the valley is described, as well as the quality of water used for farming purposes. As complementary information, the importance of these resources to Europeans also is considered. As for funerary structures, four nodal types were built and are described here. Discussion of previous works also are presented, especially those focused on tomb excavations and descriptions. Based on data obtained from these two approaches, the functionality of tombs as sacred spaces of buried ancestors is also analyzed, as well as those conditions that developed the tombs as territorial markers and identity markers of Formative Alto Ramirez villages. These spaces are then related to the productive spaces, where the water was located.
dc.descriptionLa investigación arqueológica reportada aquí tiene dos desarrollos principales. En primer lugar, se realizó un estudio bibliográfico sobre la sobrevivencia y formas de vida del pueblo Alto Ramírez y los recursos hídricos que escurren de las laderas de las montañas bajas del Valle de Azapa, en el contexto de sobrevivencia y formas de vida altoramírez. En segundo lugar, se discutió la función de las tumbas como espacios sagrados, donde se enterraban grupos agrícolas incipientes. Desde un punto de vista metodológico relacionado con el recurso hídrico, se describen todas las laderas del valle, así como la calidad del agua utilizada con fines agrícolas. Como información complementaria, también se considera la importancia de estos recursos para los europeos. En cuanto a las estructuras funerarias, se construyeron cuatro tipos nodales que se describen aquí. También se presentan discusiones de trabajos previos, especialmente aquellos enfocados en excavaciones y descripciones de tumbas. Con base en los datos obtenidos de estos dos enfoques, también se analiza la funcionalidad de las tumbas como espacios sagrados de los ancestros enterrados, así como aquellas condiciones que desarrollaron las tumbas como marcadores territoriales y marcadores de identidad de los pueblos del Formativo Alto Ramírez. Estos espacios se relacionan entonces con los espacios productivos, donde se ubicaba el agua.
