dc.descriptionThe goal of the current study was to evaluate life satisfaction in a sample of 300 immigrant children aged between 8 and 13 years old. Satisfaction in different domains and overall life, was evaluated using the General Domain Satisfaction Index and the Overall Life Satisfaction index, respectively. These instruments were also applied to a sample of 300 non-immigrant children of similar age. Statistically significant differences were found only in the 12-13 years group, where the mean scores for immigrants were lower than those for natives, on the domains of family and home, material goods, interpersonal relationships, health, and use of time. Additionally, immigrants had higher mean scores on the domains of area of residence, school, and personal satisfaction. These results allow us to reflect on the influence of society in all domains throughout their lives. Thus, these findings contribute toward the creation of policies that integrate migrants.
dc.descriptionEl objetivo del presente estudio fue evaluar la satisfacción con la vida en una muestra de 300 niños inmigrantes de entre 8 y 13 años. La satisfacción en diferentes dominios y la vida en general, se evaluó mediante el Índice de Satisfacción de Dominio General y el índice de Satisfacción de Vida General, respectivamente. Estos instrumentos también se aplicaron a una muestra de 300 niños no inmigrantes de edad similar. Solo se encontraron diferencias estadísticamente significativas en el grupo de 12-13 años, donde las puntuaciones medias de los inmigrantes fueron inferiores a las de los nativos, en los dominios familia y hogar, bienes materiales, relaciones interpersonales, salud y uso del tiempo. Además, los inmigrantes obtuvieron puntajes promedio más altos en los dominios de área de residencia, escuela y satisfacción personal. Estos resultados nos permiten reflexionar sobre la influencia de la sociedad en todos los dominios a lo largo de su vida. Así, estos hallazgos contribuyen a la creación de políticas que integren a los migrantes.
