dc.descriptionResearch on epistemic beliefs has been hampered by lack of validated models and measurement instruments. The most widely used instrument is the Epistemological Questionnaire, which has been criticized for validity, and it has been proposed a new instrument based in the Epistemological Questionnaire: the Epistemic Belief Inventory. The Spanish-language version of Epistemic Belief Inventory was applied to 1,785 Chilean high school students. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses in independent subsamples were performed. A three factor structure emerged and was confirmed. Reliability was comparable to other studies, and the factor structure was invariant among randomized subsamples. The structure that was found does not replicate the one proposed originally, but results are interpreted in light of embedded systemic model of epistemological beliefs.
dc.descriptionLa investigación sobre creencias epistémicas se ha visto obstaculizada por la falta de modelos validados e instrumentos de medición. El instrumento más utilizado es el Cuestionario Epistemológico, cuya validez ha sido criticada, y se ha propuesto un nuevo instrumento basado en el Cuestionario Epistemológico: el Inventario de Creencias Epistémicas. Se aplicó la versión en español del Inventario de Creencias Epistémicas a 1.785 estudiantes chilenos de secundaria. Se realizaron análisis factoriales exploratorios y confirmatorios en submuestras independientes. Surgió y se confirmó una estructura de tres factores. La confiabilidad fue comparable a la de otros estudios y la estructura factorial no varió entre las submuestras aleatorias. La estructura que se encontró no replica la propuesta originalmente, pero los resultados se interpretan a la luz del modelo sistémico integrado de creencias epistemológicas.
