dc.descriptionIn the face of a real possibility of public health calamity, together with a possible subsequent economic crisis, many reflections of an ethical background on public policies arise: should we establish flexible economic limits to combat the coronavirus? To what extent can we restrict freedom of assembly in the pandemic? Is it ethically acceptable to increase the risk of the most vulnerable group (the elderly, asthmatics, etc.) in favor of a better balance in the economy? The answer to these questions involves notions of ethics and politics that are often antagonistic. Based on the theories of renowned modern and contemporary philosophers - such as Rawls, Sandel, Mill, Adorno and Horkheimer - we propose a reflection on the concept of social justice in order to analyze the following question: after all, what foundation should we take to assess public actions as fair in times of pandemic?en-US
dc.descriptionEm face de uma possibilidade real de calamidade na saúde pública, junto com uma possível crise econômica posterior, muitas reflexões de fundo ético sobre políticas públicas surgem: devemos estabelecer limites econômicos flexíveis para combater o coronavírus? Até que ponto podemos restringir a liberdade de agrupamento na pandemia? É eticamente aceitável aumentar o risco do grupo mais vulnerável (idosos, asmáticos, etc.) em prol de um melhor equilíbrio da economia? A resposta a tais questões envolve noções de éticas e políticas muitas vezes antagônicas. Tomando por base as teorias de filósofos modernos e contemporâneos consagrados – como Rawls, Sandel, Mill, Adorno e Horkheimer –, propomos na sequência uma reflexão sobre o conceito de justiça social a fim de analisar a seguinte questão: afinal, qual fundamento devemos tomar para avaliar como sendo justas as ações públicas em tempos de pandemia?pt-BR
