dc.descriptionDifferent critics have identified in the work of Murilo Mendes a “lyric” or a “poetics of shock”. In this essay, we try to see, with the aid of the aesthetics deduced from the critical writings of Walter Benjamin, how the shock (Benjaminian category par excellence) reveals itself an important element for a renewed reading of Murilo. This reading is based on the examination of the singular ways that dialectics – so well described by Benjamin – between shock and aura takes in his work, as well as on the discernment of the subordination of this dialectics to the exploration of modern sublime, which largely defines the uniqueness of Murilo in the panorama of twentieth century Brazilian literature.en-US
dc.descriptionCríticos diversos identificaram na obra de Murilo Mendes uma “lírica” ou uma “poética do choque”. Neste ensaio, busca-se verificar, com apoio na estética depreendida dos escritos críticos de Walter Benjamin, como o choque (categoria benjaminiana por excelência) revela-se de fato fundamental para uma leitura renovada de Murilo. Esta leitura passa pelo exame dos modos próprios como, nesta obra, se dá a dialética, bem descrita por Benjamin, entre choque e aura, assim como pelo discernimento da subordinação dessa dialética à exploração do sublime moderno, que define em grande parte a singularidade de Murilo no quadro da literatura brasileira do século XX.pt-BR
