| dc.description | This paper examines anxieties surrounding gender, sexuality, race, and class in the film Antônia (2006). The paper analyzes how hip-hop is used as an instrument to challenge patriarchal standards. The study also demonstrates how the film represents the limitations and difficulties in undertaking feminist hip-hop politics. A narrative analysis of the film along with a brief background on hip-hop in Brazil shows how hip-hop presents a key device to confronting patriarchal authority and opening up spaces for marginalized women. | en-US |
