| dc.description | This work is a result of a ongoing postdoctoral research that contemplates the passage of Flora Tristan through Cape Verde in 1833, the historical local background and presents an analysis of the writer’s memorial narratives with a literary journalism approach in the La Praya chapter from her autobiographical work Peregrinations of a Pariah. Throughout the sea crossing, the ship where Flora Tristan was travelling to Peru was forced into making a stopover in the City of Praia, when it was under the colonial and slavery-oriented Portuguese regime. The scenes of violence and misery that Flora had never experienced before awoke her sensibility, expressing her outrage against human exploitation, especially women on her book. The theme will be recurrent on her travel narratives that she writes afterwards. | en-US |
| dc.description | Este trabalho, fruto de pesquisa pós-doutoral em curso, contempla a passagem de Flora Tristan por Cabo Verde em 1833, o contexto histórico local e apresenta uma análise dos relatos memoriais da escritora, de cunho jornalístico e literário, do capítulo La Praya de sua obra autobiográfica Peregrinações de uma pária. Durante a travessia marítima que a levaria ao Peru, o navio em que viajava faz uma escala forçada na cidade da Praia, então sob o domínio colonial e escravocrata português. As cenas de violência e miséria que nunca dantes presenciara despertam a sensibilidade de Flora, que expressa sua revolta contra a exploração humana, sobretudo de mulheres, em seu livro. O tema será recorrente nos relatos de viagens que escreveria tempos depois. | pt-BR |
