The information needs of the Basic Engineering technical group of the Research and Development Center of PETROBRÁS are defined througout the knowledge of formal and informal channels used by them and by their information gathering-behavior. The communication flow of the Basic Engineering area is established by structuring the organization's internal and external network. The studied indicators will direct the Technical Informatin Division in supplying future information to the investigated community.O levantamento dos canais formais e informais, utilizados pelos técnicos da Engenharia Básica do Centro de Pesquisas da PETROBRAS, e o conhecimento de seus hábitos, na busca de informação, permitiram definir e avaliar as necessidades do grupo neste campo. O fluxo de comunicação da Engenharia Básica e estabelecido mediante a estruturação da rede intra e extra-organizacional. Os indicadores estudados orientam a atividade de Informação Técnica do CENPES, quanto ao suprimento futuro de informação a comunidade investigada.
