Este trabalho tem como foco os noventa e sete filmes com tema em saúde, dirigidos por Humberto Mauro, no Instituto Nacional de Cinema Educativo (INCE). Desses filmes restam apenas trinta e cinco. Foi feita uma pesquisa histórica sobre o Ministério da Educação e Saúde, ao qual o INCE estava subordinado, assim como sobre o próprio INCE e diversos movimentos internacionais como o eugenismo, o sanitarismo, a Escola Nova e o cinema educativo que exerceram influências nesses filmes. Também foi pesquisada a Feira Mundial de Nova York, realizada em 1939, na qual foram exibidos dez filmes em saúde. Foi realizado um levantamento sobre cromia, som, bitola, minutagem, além dos fotógrafos e consultores desses filmes. Os filmes foram categorizados como institucionais, de ensino e pesquisa, de difusão científica e de educação rural.The focus of this paper is the ninety seven films about health directed by Humberto Mauro at the Instituto Nacional de Cinema Educativo (INCE). Out of the ninety seven films, only thirty five remain. A historical research has been carried out on the Ministry of Education and Health, to which INCE is subordinate, as well as INCE itself and various international movements like eugenism, sanitarism, the “Escola Nova” and the educational cinema. All these movements influenced those films. The New York´s World Fair of 1939 has also been a source of material for research. Ten films about health were shown at this event. Moreover, a survey was made on aspects such as: chromia, sound mix, film format, time, the photographers and the film consultants. The films were placed in many categories: institutional, teaching and research, scientific and rural education.
