La pregunta por la responsabilidad del individuo, el énfasis en la capacidad terapéutica de la memoria y la reflexión sobre la identidad personal y colectiva son elementos esenciales de la literatura de Imre Kertész. Su narrativa presenta un notable sesgo filosófico, un recurrente cuestionamiento de la existencia a merced de la salvaje corriente de la historia. Superviviente del Holocausto, escribir es, para Kertész, una búsqueda del yo, un testimonio que reivindica a las víctimas de la barbarie, así como la expresión de un imperativo moral. En este artículo mostraremos algunas de las implicaciones ético-filosóficas de lanarrativa kerteszeana, aventura existencial y testimonio privilegiado del devenir del pasado siglo XX.The question of the responsibility of the individual, the emphasis on therapeutic capacity of memory, and the reflection on personal and collective identity areessential elements in Imre Kertész’s literature. His narrative presents a remarkable philosophical slant, a recurrent questioning of existence at the mercy ofthe wild current of history. A holocaust survivor, for Kertész writing is a search for the self, a testimony that vindicates the victims of barbarism as well as theexpression of a moral imperative. In this paper we will show some of the ethical-philosophical implications of the Kerteszean narrative, an existentialadventure and an extraordinary testimony of the evolution of the past 20th century.
