The purpose of this study was to determine if reading strategies in combination with the
sociodrama technique impacted tenth graders’ reading comprehension skills. This research work
included a diagnostic stage consisting of a students’ questionnaire, a teacher’s journal, and a survey
in order to determine the participants’ initial difficulties in regards to reading skill. An action stage
that consisted of six workshops based on reading strategies and the sociodrama technique as
instructional strategies to enhance reading comprehension skills. Data collection and analysis were
conducted according to the Action Research method and the qualitative methodology. Key findings
indicate the usefulness of reading strategies and the sociodrama technique for building confidence
in the participants and for developing their reading comprehension, along with their vocabulary,
which was expressed through sociodramas in class. Conclusions and pedagogical implications are
detailed to advocate for teachers, school administrators, and policy makers to include the
sociodrama technique in future curriculum events to foster the learning of reading comprehension
skills. Introduction/ 1.
