La finalidad de este artículo es dar a conocer un proceso metodológico que como resultado investigativo busca hacer frente a los cambios urbanos denominados renovaciones urbanas, elevando la importancia de las vivencias en los espacios de la ciudad sobre su materialidad. Esta propuesta, que conjuga los estudios territoriales y el diseño, aplica metodologías sociales que desde un enfoque empírico plantean nuevas estrategias y abordajes teórico-prácticos. Inicia con la reflexión sobre las categorías territorio y barrio, para luego dar cuenta de las fracturas urbanas que como cicatrices irrumpen en el paisaje y alteran las dinámicas espaciales y sociales. Más adelante se reflexiona sobre la categoría de memoria y su relación con el territorio, que visto como espacio de apropiación y de lo vivido permite comprender la relación de los lugares y sus recuerdos. Por último, se propone el diseño de una herramienta de interacción social que realiza la reconstrucción imaginaria del barrio en un espacio que traspasa lo físico. El metaterritorio, así denominado, es la restitución de la memoria de sus habitantes y la territorialización de sus recuerdos que permiten mantenerlo vivo. Este aporte, pone en evidencia lo que no se hace relevante a la hora de pensar en las transformaciones de la ciudad. En estas, se pondera lo físico y material antes de lo significado. Es por ello que se buscan alternativas de participación para las poblaciones que se ven afectadas y que por lo general no son tenidas en cuenta en las decisiones. La aplicación de mapas mentales y cartografías sociales, además de entrevistas y diversos métodos, ayudan a la recopilación de datos y a la participación de los actores sociales en la construcción al tener en cuenta sus ropios intereses.The purpose of this article is to present a methodological process that, as a research result, seeks to deal with urban changes known as urban renewals, increasing the importance of the experiences of the inhabitants in the city spaces over its materiality. This proposal, which combines the disciplines of territorial studies and design, applies social methodologies that, from an empirical point of view, propose new strategies and theoretical-practical approaches. The document starts with the reflection on the territory and neighborhood categories to then account for the urban fractures that, as scars, burst into the landscape and alter the social and spatial dynamics. Later on, there is a reflection on the category of memory and its relationship with the territory which, considered as a space for appropriation and life experiences, allows the understanding of the relation between places and their memories. Finally, the design of a social interaction tool is proposed that conducts the imaginary reconstruction of the neighborhood in a space that transcends the physical space. The so-called metaterritory is the restitution of the inhabitant’s memory and the territorializing of their memories, that allow them to keep it alive. This contribution shows what is not relevant when thinking about the transformations of the city in which the physical and material is pondered before the meaning. This is why alternatives are sought for participation of the affected populations to participate, as they are generally not taken into account in the decisions. The application of mental maps and social cartography, as well as interviews and other methods, help in the collection of data and the participation of social actors in urban construction, while taking into account their interests.
