Resumen
One of the most complex challenges for endodontists and periodontists during daily practice is to
propose an adequate diagnosis and treatment of endoperiodontal lesions. The resulting guides in
this case are fundamental not only to guide the professional but also to standardize processes that
allow the objectives set to be achieved. Objective: to determine the knowledge and application of
the latest classification of endo-periodontal lesions by endodontists and periodontists graduated
from three universities. Method: cross-sectional descriptive observational research, with 153
professionals from three universities. A survey was produced that had a total of 15 items for
demographic, professional, knowledge and aptitude aspects against the LEP2018 Guide.
Univariate and bivariate analyzes were performed using the Jamovi 2.3v software and with p<0.05.
Results: age 38±8.1 years; prevailing graduates of El Bosque University (48%), endodontists
(56.2%), practicing for 6±6.62 years, privately (79.7%). 62.7% know the LEP2018 guide and
50.3% use it in daily practice. Professionals who know and use the guide have better general
knowledge (p<0.001) and more correct answers were obtained from endodontists (p<0.05). The
average score for the knowledge questions was 4.67 (range 0–7 points). Conclusions: the
professionals who participated in the research had a regular level of knowledge, below 70%, on
general aspects of the LEP2018 Guide; however, knowing and using the guide in daily practice
makes professionals better prepared
