Mejora en la gesti?n de la basura en ?reas p?blicas del pa?s: RD-Limpio

Abstract

[Espa?ol] La gesti?n de la basura ha sido un problema constante para los ciudadanos de la Rep?blica Dominicana. En ?reas p?blicas y compartidas como r?os, lagos, playas y parques existe una gran cantidad de contaminaci?n que afecta negativamente estos espacios. La Rep?blica Dominicana es conocida por muchas cosas, entre ellas sus ?reas naturales que son hogar de diversas especies de aves y plantas. Son una fuente de alimento y agua potable para gran parte de la Rep?blica Dominicana adem?s de servir como zonas de turismo interno e internacional. La aglomeraci?n de desechos baja la calidad de vida de los seres cercanos a ellas, afectando negativamente el ecosistema y provey?ndoles un riesgo de incendios. Debido a estos factores, es importante buscar una mejor forma de manejar este problema, para preservar la belleza natural. En la actualidad, existen equipos de control de basura, grupos de servicio comunitario, e individuos motivados que aportan para mitigar este problema, y recogen los desechos que encuentran. Como es una parte bastante baja de la poblaci?n, hay que buscar la forma de poder optimizar sus recursos y asegurarse que sus esfuerzos sean lo m?s eficiente posible. Se puede usar la tecnolog?a de la informaci?n y la comunicaci?n (TIC) para crear una herramienta que facilite este proceso. Este proyecto para mejorar la gesti?n de la basura mediante una aplicaci?n llamada RD-Limpio tiene la intenci?n de proveer esa herramienta y abrir el camino hacia un m?todo mejor de manejar la contaminaci?n. Currently, there are garbage control teams, community service groups, and motivated individuals who pitch in to mitigate this problem, and pick up the debris they find. As these make up a fairly small part of the population, they have to find a way to optimize their resources and ensure that their efforts are as efficient as possible. Information and communication technology (ICT) can be used to create a tool to facilitate this process. This project to improve garbage management through an application called RD-Limpio intends to provide that tool and pave the way for a better method of managing pollution. This software would have two main functions, to centralize the information about the places that need cleaning by creating a repository, and to increase awareness of the problem that exists and inspire people to contribute in cleaning up the country.
