The graduation final paper presents research about the micro theory Nonviolent Communication (NVC), which seeks to analyze its approximations and divergences with the marxist theoretical framework, the basis of the theoretical and methodological foundations of Social Work. The choice of this theme is justified in view of the fact that there are Social Workers who use the NVC in their daily professional life and that experiences have been positive. Therefore, the research seeks to understand first of all the socio-historical movements that lead to the micro theory, its context of emergence, how it developed and became stronger worldwide, and also, to identify its theoretical-conceptual referential, as well as to characterize its structuring and correlated concepts such as “culture and peace”, “communication” and “violence”. Furthermore, the techniques of NVC are identified and how this micro theory can be incorporated into professional practice of Social Work, taking into account the contributions of marxist thought. To this end, this paper uses the comparative method, and also comprises a bibliographic literature review, supported by the dialectic-critical methodology based on historical materialism. From the analysis, it is concluded that certain forms of appropriation of marxism by Social Work have interdicted possibilities of reflection, communication and approximation with other references, such as NVC. However, it is possible that by using CNV techniques in interventions with the working class, the realization of their rights is made possible through the access to information, and the mediation of family and marital conflicts that may occur; and in the relations between the Social Worker and the State enable, in the face of transformation, the negotiation and sharing of commitments with the working class
