Computational hydraulic modeling is a powerful tool for simulating the water distribution system, it is capable of processing thousands of lines of data and making thousands of calculations to reach the hydraulic balance of the network. For the simulation result to be effective, the development of the hydraulic model must be consistent with the real structures characteristics and operations information. This study aims to conduct a critical analysis of the computational hydraulic model of the São Gabriel Saneamento’s water supply system, responsible for water supply in the city of São Gabriel/RS. The simulation was done by Sul Magna Saneamento e Meio Ambiente (2023b) using the EPANET 2.0 program and the present work made a critical evaluation of the final report referring to the elaboration and results obtained from the computational hydraulic model using the EPANET 2.2, identifying the divergences in the data and the information provided for the construction of the model and what was actually used and an evaluation was carried out regarding the use of these data and information, comparing with the information and methodologies used to produce the simulation file with the information that is available on the subject. It was necessary to gather information used during the simulation period, such as the water network registry with material, diameter and extension, installed accessories and operation configurations, the location of reservoirs, their heights, volumes, dimensions, and water level, the location of lift stations and pumps used, consumption data for each connection, and the location of connections in the distribution network, flow and pressure measurement data. The work approach will be carried out initially by comparing the simulation results with the actual measured data and later identifying what can be changed to comply with the literature recommendations and improve the calibration of the hydraulic model.
