Caracterização da atividade apícola na mesorregião noroeste do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul

Abstract

This work was carried out to characterize the beekeeping activity in the Noroeste mesoregion of Rio Grande do Sul. For this it was made a literature review to form a basis of arguments of supporting the arguments about beekeeping. To characterize the activity, if used as side data the number of establishments with beekeeping, number of hives, amount of honey sold and value received for the sale of honey were used, calculating from these data values received by honey, number of hives per establishment, amount of honey sold per hive, value received per hive and received amount per beekeeping establishment. In addition, the condition of the land and the amount of area beekeeping of beekeepers. The secondary data used to characterize the beekeeping activity at its different levels, focusing on the Noroeste mesoregion of Rio Grande do Sul, were taken from the agricultural census carried out in 2017 by the Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística (IBGE), and are available for access and consultation on the SIDRA platform, being the base of this study. It was observed a low financial return obtained by beekeepers in the region resulting from a low investment and small productin scale, having exploration potential in the sector
